Ep 068: How Are You Reflected In your Art? / by Jackie Sanders

A Lifetime of Creative Experiences

You are at the core of your creative process but how are you reflected in your art? In today’s episode we talk about connecting with your creative voice, the questions you need to ask yourself, and how to answer the common question, “how long did that piece take you to make?”

How are you reflected in your art?

If you are true to yourself, then it’s inevitable – you will be reflected in your art. Although in the beginning of your creative exploration you may be trying new styles, once you find what connects with you, your true creative voice will shine through!

During the art making process…

  • “Finding your style” will result in creating art that feels right for you!

  • The process isn’t always smooth and straightforward but it's ultimately rewarding

    • Example - When exploring new techniques or mediums you will connect with some and not with others

While exploring concepts and imagery, ask yourself…

  • What ideas are you exploring?

  • What do you want your art to communicate?

  • What ideas or experiences do you want to share with the world?

  • What do you want to be known for?

Once you find your voice and what you connect with…share it!

  • How does it come through in your art?

  • What processes do you use to communicate?

  • What is your origin story?

  • Which pivotal life experiences influence the work that you make? How and why?

By answering these questions and further connecting with your creative and emotional voice you will be able to further connect and share how your lifetime of experiences have resulted in you making the work that you are today. Embrace the journey!
