Windi White | Raleigh, NC
Abstract Artist & Healing Transitions Director of Development
Artist Bio:
I spent my childhood immersed in art and that is all I ever wanted to do when I grew up. When I was older, I let myself believe the negative story in my mind that I wasn't good enough. After I got sober, I started painting again. I now use my art as a means to help people creatively express themselves by side stepping their inner critic and grow in personal, emotional and spiritual awareness.
After serving Healing Transitions in a variety of volunteer roles including facilitating art therapy workshops and Art of Recovery co-chair, Windi White joined the leadership team in July 2021 as its Development Director. Her passion for recovery – decades in the making – runs deep.
Prior to joining Healing Transitions, Windi worked across multiple sectors specializing in sales, marketing, event planning, program development, human resources, and account/project management. She uses this experience to lead a team responsible for all activities related to development, donor cultivation, major and annual giving, capital campaigns, communications, and community engagement.
Windi attended UNC Wilmington majoring in Parks and Recreation with a focus on Natural Resource Management. She has also earned her certifications in Event Planning from UNC Charlotte and Life Coaching from Oola.
She is excited to add her leadership, fundraising and communication skills to help Healing Transitions transform lives and create a thriving recovery community.
Artist Statement:
Intuitive Painting is the practice of meditation and release of all expectations of the end result of a painting. It is the process allowing each layer of paint to inform what comes next. As you cultivate your authentic creative flow it becomes easier to let go of perfectionism, fear, and expectations. When I practice this method, it allows me to generate self-compassion and self-love as I embrace the unknown. I enjoy facilitating this practice with others so that they can let go of the picture in their head of what good art is and in turn...life is “supposed” to look like. My commission work is generated by meeting with clients to hear what inspires their peace, joy, fear, and pain to create a piece that is an abstract expression of their story.
