Wait, you’re an artist?
Have you ever felt like your career as an artist or works are often misunderstood? The modern career mind artist doesn’t exactly follow the cliché artist stereotypes but they can certainly be funny to debunk! On today’s episode we cover 8 of our favorite comments about classic artist stereotypes and dive into a brand new project that was inspired by these artist misconceptions.
8 Artist Stereotypes
You look like a normal person. I thought artists wear colorful clothes and overalls covered in paint?
You’re an artist.... But that’s more like a hobby, right? What’s your actual job?
As an artist do you just paint all day? You probably have fun standing at the easel, splashing paint without a care in the world!
Does that mean you’re a night owl? Do you paint into the late hours and wake up at noon?
You seem like a cheerful person, I thought painters were supposed to be tortured and what not.
I didn’t think artists were into technology and computers. Just sketching and painting and stuff.
If you get famous and sell paintings for millions of dollars, the $100 painting I bought from you will be worth a fortune!
I’m not a creative or artistic person, you are so lucky to have been born with it.
There are several roads that can lead to success and happiness in a creative career but visual art isn’t exactly an “easy” job with a pre-set career path. It can be challenging and full of uncertainty, but it’s also incredibly rewarding and empowering.
This is why having a supportive creative community will be HUGE in the growth of your work and art businesses!
So this inspired us to put our heads together and create an interactive community where we can share resources, ideas, and experiences in more detail while also serving our fellow artists on their journey.
Next week we will officially be launching…
The Level Up Artists Community!
This monthly membership will transform your art business and help you level up through access to a community of goal-driven creatives, advice from industry professionals, and course modules that cover everything from social media and technology, to sustainable studio practices.
Inside the Level Up Artists membership we focus on what really matters: practical education, honest advice, and the resources that you need to level up your creative practice while staying true to the artist you were meant to be!
We are learning alongside you, so although the two of us will be facilitating the group, this community will be where we can all share and grow together!
We are super excited for this new community platform and the opportunity to build deeper connections with our fellow career minded artists. The doors open next week, June 29th, and will be open for 2 weeks, closing at midnight on Tuesday July 13th.
So head on over to LevelUpArtists.com to sign up for our waiting list. And we will be sharing more details about memberships and the Level Up Artist community in next week’s episode!
